Five song cycles or song groups (the songs may be sung as sets or separately) in one volume; the first of a currently planned 3-volume edition of the songs of Richard Faith. Volume I is available in both high and low voice editions.
"With this first volume of songs, the publisher hopes to expose students, teachers, and professional singers to a cross-section of the world’s greatest poetry imaginatively and sensitively set for the voice in a neoromantic/impressionistic style by composer Richard Faith.... The compositions are sufficiently varied and accessible to musicians at any level: the beginning student of voice; the advanced student looking for interesting and varied repertoire for recitals; the accompanist who would like to be technically challenged by songs created by a concert pianist; and the professional artist who desires to explore new poetic avenues untouched by previous composers...
...I hope singers will embrace these works with the enthusiasm I did when I first played through them in 1987. After completing my doctoral dissertation on Richard’s songs at the University of Cincinnati, my goal was to rally for their publication, and now that time has arrived. We are proud to present Volume I of The Songs of Richard Faith."
