The third, and possibly the final edition of the Belcanto opera libretti is now available. It contains both Italian and French libretti. The Italian libretti are: Il Viaggio a Reims, Semiramide, and Otello (Rossini); and Beatrice di Tenda (Bellini). The French libretti include La Fille du Régiment and La Favorite (Donizetti); and Le Comte Ory and Guillaume Tell (Rossini). All the usual characteristics found in Nico Castel's books are here, including a Foreword by Frederica von Stade, who states: "...what a legacy for coming generations of young singers, to enable them to understand and connect to the text of their roles, so that they can become better artists and communicators, understanding every word of text, about being aware of what the other characters say as well, and how to pronounce it properly...
